Where the hours go

Why does the security backlog never shrink?

01

Triage queues missing exposure context

CVSS says how bad a weakness is in the abstract. It cannot say whether the function is called, or whether the workload is exposed to the internet.

02

Duplicates as workload

The same CVE appears once per scanner, per branch and per image. Deduplicating it by hand consumes the time you meant to spend fixing it.

03

Remediation disconnected from its source

The patch merges, but nobody can say which images still carry the old package or where they run, so "fixed" is a status rather than a fact.

A day on the queue

What does a security engineer's day look like with SecurityVault?

Morning queue
Start from ranked, correlated stories: each one states why it matters now, who owns it, its SLA and the next action. Corroborating tool results are edges on one finding, not extra rows. See vulnerability management.
Attack paths
Follow exposure from an internet-facing ingress through identities and roles to data stores, with choke points ranked so one change closes many paths. See cloud posture and identities and entitlements.
Routing
The owning team comes from ownership edges on the repository or resource. Tickets and pull request comments carry the evidence, the reachability path and a remediation template.
Fixing
Group work into remediation cases, open Jira issues through your own connection, accept a fix suggestion as a draft pull request, or apply a simulated, approved and reversible AWS fix. See remediation and SLAs.
Verification
Review the successful scan and scope supporting a closure. Lifecycle rules preserve human-held dispositions, and production verification also checks the affected artifact and workload.
Your view in SecurityVault

What does the Security Engineering Home show?

It answers one question: what is the highest-impact risk I can reduce today, and what changed? It opens with posture for the domains this role acts on, including code, cloud, identity and governance.

Highest-impact reductions

The ranked decision queue, beside what changed: findings by severity and the entities with the widest blast radius.

Blocked and unverified

A remediation funnel shows where fixes stall, and scan freshness shows which results are too old to trust.

Ownership gaps

Ownership coverage shows how much of the estate has a team behind it, because an unowned finding has no deadline that binds.

A ranking you can check

Why do security engineers trust the ranking?

Code to cloud in one hop

A finding links the commit that introduced it, the image that shipped it and the workload running it, so a code fix and a stale image are the same story.

Gates that tell the truth

Deployment gates read reachability and exposure, and an evaluator error is a deny. A scanner outage never turns a build green.

Evidence on every finding

Typed evidence, a source-to-sink path for taint findings and replayable requests for DAST, so a developer can see exactly what the scanner saw.

Verdicts stay human

AI can draft; it never writes a finding's status or disposition. Your triage decisions are attributed, reasoned and auditable.

Your first week

How do security engineers get started?

01

Bring your backlog

Request a demo with a repository you know well and the backlog you would most like to shrink.

02

Connect repo and cloud

Point SecurityVault at the repository and the account or cluster it deploys to. The tool plan builds itself from the languages detected.

03

First ranked queue

Review the first correlated stories, map owners, and put a gate on one pipeline.

FAQ

Questions from security engineers

How does SecurityVault decide what is highest impact?
The risk model scores severity, exploit likelihood (EPSS and CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities list), the reachability hint, exposure and business context, and every score carries an explanation. Blast radius counts the workloads and ingresses a finding reaches, not its sibling findings.
What does reachable mean for a dependency finding?
Each dependency finding carries a hint of reachable, not reachable or unknown, with the call path when one exists. Reachable requires a path, and a missing analyser never quietly demotes a finding. See SCA and SBOM.
Can I triage findings myself?
Yes, when your assigned permissions include triage. Selecting a home view does not grant access. A disposition such as false positive or accepted risk needs a reason code and is attributed to you; risk acceptance follows your approval policy.
Do I have to rebuild our scanner estate?
No. 45 scanner adapters run alongside the native engine, and the orchestrator builds the tool plan from the languages it detects. Findings from tools you already run can be imported into the same model.
What if a fix is merged but the image still runs?
A source fix does not prove that production has changed. Check successful rescan evidence and image-to-workload context to identify workloads still running the affected digest. Finding lifecycle records show why a status changed, and human-held dispositions remain protected.
