Every step of the chain
Individual techniques will chain into multi-step scenarios. Each step will be recorded as blocked, detected or undetected, along with how far the chain got.
Evaluate prevention and detection with controlled attack scenarios. Align security and operations teams around what was tested, what the controls observed and what needs attention.
Discuss the validation scenario and the boundaries of an evaluation.
Evaluate the intended evidence for the control being tested.
Agree how validation results would inform security improvements.
Security stacks degrade silently. An endpoint agent is disabled on a new image, a log pipeline drops a source, a cloud role gains a permission it should not have. BAS replaces assumption with measurement: it runs known attacker techniques, safely and reversibly, and records what each control did about them. Run continuously, it turns questions such as "would we notice lateral movement from this host?" into an answer with evidence, and shows which control gaps matter most.
Agree the target environment and permitted activity.
Define the technique and execution safeguards.
Compare the expected response with the evidence collected.
Designed workflow: an exercise needs explicit scope before execution.
An attack simulation is only useful if it can run in production without becoming the incident. Every guardrail is designed to fail closed: if any one is missing, the campaign will not start.
Individual techniques will chain into multi-step scenarios. Each step will be recorded as blocked, detected or undetected, along with how far the chain got.
Each security control will be scored and graded on how it handled the techniques it faced, with the gaps where techniques went undetected named explicitly.
Results will map to MITRE ATT&CK tactics and techniques, showing what is covered, what is weak and what remains untested.
A simulation result means most next to the exposure it tests. SecurityVault is designed to connect simulation outcomes to the graph that already links code, artefacts, cloud and identity, so a theoretical attack path and a tested one sit side by side.
